Murata Electronics Europe has completed the acquisition of Vantaa, Finland-based VTI Technologies. By taking advantage of the synergies that result from acquiring VTI’s leading 3D MEMS sensor products to supplement its own product lines, Murata plans to strengthen and expand its business in the rapidly growing MEMS sensor market.
While Murata has a strong presence in the consumer applications market, VTI has focused on building a business base in the automotive industry and medical applications. This acquisition will therefore enhance Murata’s development and sales abilities.Tsuneo Murata, President of Murata, comments: “VTI has an exceptionally sophisticated line of sensor products, and we aim to make use of the synergies between our two companies in order to lay a foundation for sustainable growth in the future.”
“’We are pleased that Murata has a Development and Manufacturing location in Europe again. The addition of VTI’s sensor products to Murata’s portfolio means that we will be able to not only closely support our existing European customers requirements, but also combine the MEMS technology with other Murata technologies to be able to offer advanced solutions into exciting new applications,” comments Terry Churcher, President of Murata Electronics Europe.
“VTI and Murata have a strong strategic fit, and we are excited about the opportunity of combining VTI’s product development and manufacturing competence with Murata’s well-built customer base and technological know-how,” says Markku Hirvonen, President and CEO of VTI.
