Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, announces that its burn-in product team recently successfully supported an international IDM to significantly increase its burn-in capacity by more than one third, while substantially reducing the cost and effort required for incoming board inspection at the customer’s site.
Multitest started the project by a profound assessment of the application and its effects on the burn-in process. Based on this analysis, Multitest determined the appropriate material to match the requested density increase on the boards. Additionally, Multitest engineered design methodologies to address signal speeds, current draw and distribution to ensure that the true burn-in requirements of the application were met. Previous burn-in solutions from other suppliers did not sufficiently meet the voltage stability and signal integrity requirements.
As a final step, and in order to deliver a real “plug & yield” solution, Multitest developed a board quality control strategy in cooperation with the customer. This new procedure will help to save hundreds of man-hours of incoming inspection at the customer’s site.
This case of this next-generation burn-in application shows Multitest’s ability to combine technical expertise and innovation with the unique service level of a “plug & yield” supplier.
